Large vase NAPOLEON.

Royal eagle and laurels on the lid. On the cartel : through the St Bernard col 2 winged chimaeras, 2 vases, ears of corn and graphes.
2 Médallions : portraits of Napoleon and Marie-Louise flat gold edge Empire Style.

Inlaid gold set
Setting : violets of Parme from Napoleon III's wife, Eugénie (1853).
The inlaid work is a decorative process to attacki enamel with an acid.
Using gold brings then a contrast between flat and bright colours of the inlaid part.
