TECHNICS OF WORK
Porcelain from LIMOGES : a material of election :
I go by myself round the very places of chinaware productions, in France, and particularly in LIMOGES, to choose the pieces of white porcelain, directly brought out of the best-known Factories on the market.
I scrupulously choose the pieces for their quality. I am keen on purity of material which involves a transparent, a translucent, white aspect, brightness of the enamel, research of rare, special shapes...).
A real artistic creation :
In my workroom, I create the whole decors of the chinaware, from the drawings to the final cooking. The decor is conceived according to the style of the piece. Colours will show its shapes to their advantage.
The decor is painted with a pen or a brush, by free-hand, which brings a larger freedom in expression and inspiration.
The colour-paintings are powders and oxides such as : Sépia, Bleu de Delft, Heavenly Blue, Carmine, Empire Green... added up with different oils of turpentine.
The pastel colours, with many shades, allow to produce discreet paintings.
Any piece must then dry for several hours.
A final work of quality :
Once they are dry, these pieces are cooked in a special oven made of refractory bricks. Several cookings are needed. Their number (from 1 to 4), and the temperature (from 730 to 860 °) depend on the colours used.
Richer smart finishing touches can be enhanced with gold.
Pieces are all signed and a certificate of authenticity is to be delivered.
